Whole Dog Journal Removes Specific Food Off Their List

This year, the Whole Dog Journal removed foods off their list of approved foods if the company would not disclose origin of manufacture. The following foods have been removed:

Addiction Foods NZ Ltd.
Azmira Holistic Animal Care
The Blue Buffalo Company
Cloud Star Corporation
Newman's Own Organics
Owen & Mandeville Pet Products
Petguard
Royal Canin
Solid Gold Health Products
Timberwolf Organics Inc.
(Evolve) Triumph Pet Industries Inc.


The following foods made the list. The list was based on the following criteria:

They looked for foods that contain a lot of high quality animal proteins
Any food containing meat by-products or poultry by-products was rejected
Foods containing fat or protein not identified by species was rejected
They looked for whole grains and vegetables
Foods with artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or added sweeteners were eliminated
They looked for foods containing organic ingredients.
