The longest documented match throughout history in america lasted an astounding 6 hours and 53 minutes. This Marathon involved a Defensive Style 2x winner son of C. Beasley's CH Bad Boy (an unofficial ROM that was from carver's Stompanato / Maloney's Darkie) Called T. Clark's Treespot that had a previous win over gaines & Co.'s Turtle JR. Threespot was facing a 4x winner down from GR CH Zebo ROM Bloodline named B Patricks's CH Hammer that was a punishing body puncher with Bonehead Serving as the referee. The dogs made several scratches each with the last being made by CH Hammer at about the 3 hour mark After the Scratch Threespot Stayed Hung up in the muzzle and was uninterested in coming out of his hold. B.Patrick offered to part the dogs and continue what was by the that time a scratching contest, but T. Clark declined the offer. The handelers finally agreed to seperate those to remarkable dogs and called it a draw at almost 7 hours int the classic contest of opposing styles featuring two truly deadgame bulldogs.

Another Historical Contest to be held was on featuring both entrants as registured Grand Champions. This contest as the first time ever that match with established Stud dogs, already recognized as certified Grand Champions to fache each other. Both of these dogs had already proven, beyond any resonable doubt, that they were of the highest quality. Its is a pitty that one had to lose to show whione was the undisputed best of the best. The following was written by S.T.P. Kennels and was reprinted from now defunct The American Pit Bull Terrier Times #1 vol 6 June issue of 88 Both contest the one above and the other to follow are included for historical purposes only

A CLASSIC MATCH GR CH BUCK VS GR CH SANDMAN

We Got Buck fomr Island Kennels when he just tured 2 years old He had already won 2 contract matches at several pounds above hsi proper pit weight, one over Aldo's Aeke Who later become a CHampion and one over Winchester's Conan. He had also won a money roll in over an hour against 10 LB Bigger dog which had been reported, but which we disclaimed as a match when we got the dog.
Asoon as we started to work the dog we could see he had increadible Stamina, and he dimonstrated this in all his matches. He was a smooth efficient fighting dog who would bite whatever came infront of his mouth, usually starting on the head and finishing a down dog in the chest or throat. He was a great finisher and one of the hardest scratching dogs your'll ever see.
Our First match with Buck was into Tito's Tonka. Tonka turned ou tto be not mutch of a dog, and buck bit him down and stopped him under 30 minutes.
Buck's Next match was against Captain America's Jumbo Jim. Jumbo jim was a double Bred Gr. CH Hank dog, and even though this was his first time out he was hand pickd to beat buck and had taken out a 60 lb. Match dog in over an hour in his game test. Jumbo did the early driving with buck doing heavy damage to jumbo's head and inside mouth.
By one hour Buck was in complete control. Jumbo made an unbelieveable scratch at 1.30 but by 1.57 he collapsed in his corner unable to go on. Buck made a verry hard curtesy scratch and jumbo was lost shortly after.
Buck wint for his 5th against Rodney's J.R. dog JR was a 2xwinner off of Cooper's Weasel and sister to ht's GR CH Jubble. JR was a regarded as a terrible biter and had finished both his opponents at 20 months old he gave up 2 pounds and finished the Roof Top Boys Regan a 2xwinner at 1.30. In his second match he finished Solo's Cobra a deadgame 1xwinner off ofGr. Ch Angus in 52 minutes. JR was a hard driving dog who never gave his opponent a moments rest and he gave buck all he could handle for about 40 minutes. Jr Did some dammage when he got in but he didn,t get in often enough and eventually fought himself off his feet. Buck did alot of damage to jr's head and inside his mouth and tongue. By 40 minutes jr had done all he could and buck took over biting hard in the chest and throat. Jr was handeled at 52 minutes but would not go. Buck scratched like a rocket. Jr was lost the follwing morning.

His 6th match was against P. & H 's Rockey, a rough young dog rom jj off of Ch Jeep and Gr CH Miss Rage. Rockey was another . After that it was all Buck and Rockey was hard driving dog but buck stayed. on the head until 40 minutes when Rockey started to run out of gas. After that it was all Buck and Rockey Was picked up in a little over an Hour.

At this point Buck was retired as a 6x winner and not yet 4 years old. He was bred numerous times and after 2 years and siring alot of pups we decided to go one more time into another GR CH. A a dog from a dog from a CH Jeep to CH Rascal Cross known as GR CH Sandman

This match reconized the fist time thow Recognized GR CH were matched into eachother, and even though both dogs were clost to 6 years old it was a classic battle

THE MATCH ITSELF NOW

Sandman came in a pound at 49 with buck on weight at 48. Sandman came hard in the front end for the frist 20 minutes, but then buck slowly came ahead holding the head from 20 minutes until one hour. Sandman caught a bad bleeder in Buck's nose at 40 and Buck lost a top cutter at 1 hour. After one hour the matched stayed even with each dog taking turns on top, until 1:45 hen the dogs locked into each other's mouths.
They stayed locked in the mouth until 2:50 hen a handel was made with Buck's turn to go. Each dog had made only a few scratches until this tome. Buck made a hard Scratch at 2:50 and the battle continuted. At this point Sandman's Head and nose were Destroyed and Buck was getting weak from the loss of blood. which had continued on and off since the 40 minute mark
It was still eithor dogs chance. Sandman scrathed good at 3 hours but after 3 more each sandman took the count at 3:17 Buck made a good curtesy scratch sandman didn,t make it.

Buck Is now Retired for goood We have seen many Highly egarded pit dogs over the years, but Buck had the right combination of Bite Speed Stamina intelligence, and an increadeble will to win that made him one of the all time great pit dogs.
