| For all you Conformation people out there....once you make CH, do the only points that count toward GC come from CH of CH class? Does that make any sense? | |

| Once you reach ch at 100 points then you will have to paticpate with the ch of ch class which the points start at 100 but its like starting at zero but the dog is always a ch.but yeah the points count | |

| Ok that is what I heard, but then why would someone show in the regular class if those points don't count? | |

| Hello, so here is the deal with that.... In the ADBA, you are able to go over the 100 points by about 20-25 or so points. It's a grace period that the ADBA gives people for a number of reasons. Some people don't realize that the dog is a "CH", or if you make "CH" on the 1st of two shows, the person may want to be 100% sure that their points are correct so they will keep the dog in the reg classes. It used to be that until you received confirmation from the ADBA, or it appeared in the Gazette, you did not have to go to the Ch of Ch class, but waiting for that is very risky since once you surpass the "grace period" you then loose the points above the grace points. Now the grace points DO count, which is why some people roll the dice and keep their dogs in the regular class for as long as possible hoping to earn as many points as possible without going over (which then would NOT count.) It basically comes down to the fact that the Ch of Ch class is so competitive and difficult to place in unless you have a top notch dog that people try to earn as many points as they can wherever they may find them. I hope this all makes sense! | |

I hope this all makes sense! This is EXACTLY what happened to me with Lizzy. In her last show I have her figured at EXACTLY 100 points. The ADBA has her @ 90. I sure don't wanna go in the champs class without enough points so I stayed in her regular class. Sometimes you forget you placed over 10 dogs, or exactly opposite......you thought there was more than 10 but it wasn't. Things like this are why they give you the leway for the extra points. Now if you go over the alloted amount which is 130 I think, they will NOT give you any of the points beyond that. Bronson also went into Indiana below 1oo, and we left at 114 so that's when we moved up. | |
