| i would like to build up the muscle in my blue male but im not sure how. i walk him everyday and feed him hi-protein dog food. he is 11 monthes old. i was told that a dog with cut muscles was unhealthy. is that true? any info is greatly apreciated. i saw a female pit lil bit who won female pit of the month in january of this year and that is what i am aiming for. thank you for any help.

| Spring pole, flirt pole, lots of walking and running....Maybe some sled dragging. With the case of Lil Bit, she is just genetically made up that way. Any questions just ask. | |

| Genetics is the main component of what the dog will be.... Proper nutrition and exercise and of course overall good health and proper care will bring them to their full potential, but they will not be more than they can be so to speak
Your pup is young and shouldn't be put through any type of strenuous exercise until he is fully mature in my opinion. Hand walking and swimming are huge helps in keeping dogs in shape
LOL I wish mine liked swimming

| well since you are talking about an 11 year old pup. This dog is a puppy there is no need to trying to cut his mussles let it be a puppy do a little walking here and there. When your dog reaches about 1.5 years or 2 its time to start doing some real work. Spring pole swimming walking treadmill dragweighting. Whatever you perfer . Now Yes Genetics play a big part of how big your dog will get. | |

| thanks for all the opinions. i have been walking/jogging him 3 times a week and i feed him high protein dog food. i dont want to over work him because like you all said he is a young dog. thank you again and if you have any other exercise or training it is greatly apreciated. | |

| Reasonable exercise and a high quality food will do wonders and help where nature left off. High protein doesn't necessarily mean it's a good food, though. | |

| Spring Pole, basically a piece of hide or a toy hanging from a tree for the dog to play with. You don't want it too high so that they have to jump off the ground to get it. | |

| http://www.pitbull-family.com/health-f4/dog-food-grading-chart-t42.htm check out this thread for different dog foods... Personally I use Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. But it just depends on what your dog does good on. Just make sure the first ingredient is a meat product and not a corn product (assuming they are not allergic to that particular meat source). | |

| I personally feed Blue Buffalo Wilderness. Real meat sources, no glutens and no crap. I also do some raw bones/feeding as well. Pedigree, to be honest, is absolute crap.
I personally prefer the Dog Food Analysis site to the grading scale, although some of it is a bit off.
Here's the grading on Blue Wilderness, which is considered a 6 star food. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showproduct.php?product=1328&cat=8
