IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA






Sec. 105. The Dangerous Dog Amendment Act of 1988, effective October 18, 1988 (D.C.

Law 7-176; D. C. Official Code § 8-1901 et seq.), is amended as follows:



(a) Section 2 (D.C. Official Code § 8-1901) is amended by adding a new paragraph (6) to

read as follows:



“(6) “Potentially dangerous dog” means any dog of a certain breed that the Mayor has

determined to be potentially dangerous.”



(b) A new section 2a is added to read as follows:



“Sec. 2a. Potentially dangerous dogs. “In consultation with the Department of Health, the Mayor may establish a list of potentially dangerous dogs breeds. Such list shall be revised periodically and shall be based upon information including breed characteristics and evidence of adverse incidents in the District.”
