There will be another meeting Oct 11th, just before I venture to SW - just
in time to get me pumped up because I am one of the peaceful speakers this
time. Look out :-) LOL
The open discussion will be about Chapter 5, which regulates all matters
pertaining to animals in Miami-Dade County. BSL will be the hot topic to be
discussed, along with spay and neutering, zoning, micro-chipping, etc.
The Health and Public Safety Committee (HPSC) oversees matters concerning
the health, protection, and safety of residents and visitors of Miami-Dade
County. This meeting will be at the Commissioners chambers. Miami is a
trend setting city; the rescue groups that we are networked with all think
that each area be covered. I am honored to be asked to speak. My focus will
be shelter statistics and rescue statistics regarding breed specific
treatment of dogs that just "happen" to be bull breeds.
I am calling for equal treatment of all breeds, an end to rescue group
shelter shopping and shelter discrimination based on breed. We treat our
death row inmates better than a Bully that may enter a shelter healthy only
to die from distemper, full of ticks, worms and secondary infections. They
are always placed with sick dogs even if they are not sick. We have numbers.
The main BSL presentation will be done by another group. The news will be
there to cover.
