i am concerned about something the pics are great but i am conserned about the Blue Girl dog. She looks way underweight. it may just be the pictures but the way her ribs show with no mussle or slats showing it just dosn,t look verry helthy. It may be the conditioning routine or maby just the picture i,m sorry just was a little concerned about that. I did notice alot of hipbone showing on that dog.

Believe me, a lot of flack got started over that. I don't know the history on the dog, but I knew the girl and took the shots.

Amanda, you got Ryker looking good in these pics,, I actually like his appearance with the extra muscle like in these pics as oppose to some others, keep up the work your doing with him, great job on the show.

Hey, I'm saying this with no knowledge of showing dogs, but do they usually look pretty skinny, or is that required for showing? Alot of these dogs look quite thin, and correct me if I'm wrong! (and I'm NOT trying to be rude, just curious) My girl is 70lbs and not an inch of fat on her, but she doesnt have her ribs and hips sticking out like some of the dogs I saw.... no offense meant to anyone!

There is a difference between conditioning and just healthy weight. These dogs are conditioned (many of them - some moreso at the food dish) though hard work, exercise and a strict way of caring for them so they reach their ultimate performance.

I would suggest reading the standards for the ADBA and AADR as far as what is conformationally accepted. The UKC/AKC tend to like dogs with a bit more fat on them. Most of these dogs are conditioned the way a marathon runner would be and don't have any fat on them. A bit of rib/touch of spine doesn't mean the dog is too lean in some cases. Hip bones are a no-no and only a select few photos have dogs that may potentially have been "conditioned at the food dish" as it's put through withholding of food and no actual work.
