Pistol Pete was an exceptional dog.He won six matches in the hands of R.Sorrells(no relation to Bert Sorrells). From all accounts he was one hell of a bulldog.R.Duhon bought him from R.Sorrells at the age of 4 years old.And is responsible for all his breedings.
Pete was by the great Loyds Ch Gator and out of Bensons Beauty.Beauty was off of Carvers Pistol bred to his daughter(Boomerangs full sister) Susie.Pistol Pete was a great match dog,but may be remembered as a great producer. In Pistol Pete's 4th match he went into a dead game Stompanato dog that was a bad head dog.He pulled Pistol Pete's ear right off his head! Pistol Pete was an honest bulldog because for the first 27 mintues while his ear was getting pulled off Pistl Pete couldnt get one single bite.He took it like a bulldog is supposed to.At the half hour mark he got into the chest and at an hour seven minutes Pistol Pete was declared the winner. The other dog took to much punishment to keep going. The handler of the other dog asked for a couresty scratch.Pistol Pete has produced several Ch. along with several 1 and 2 XW.

You asked for some info on the dog.Well there you go.

If you diligent and do your homework, there are people who still keep the pure stuff. There are also some great crosses into other segments of the Carver bloodline.

you can't deny carver's influence on the breed, that's a fact!

but you here so many bad stories of maurice hanging papers on his dogs. wasn't he the one always saying something like, "~i'll sell em dogs, but i don't give them the receipe~", and as it seems that the carver dogs cross well with everything, and just as good when bred straight, that maybe there's more diversity underneath those breedings than meets the eye. i think maurice was real smart as to who he placed dogs with, and who he let the dogs out to.

these may have been the best and ushered in a new era...
